Someone trying to use our mail server to send their messages

Hello,

Someone keeps trying to use our SMTP mail server to send email messages. I managed to trace the IP address to what seems like a big financial website in Taiwan. I tried sending them emails, but to no avail. The frequency of them sending messages is high (reaches one per second at times), so I am sure it impacts our bandwidth and speed. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to deal with them? I thought of contacting their ISP, but I don't know how to make them out from the IP address.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Block the IP address. Do a site search here on WebmasterWorld for "block IP" plus your server type (Apache, IIS, etc.).

Your best bet is blocking the IP at the router level even before it reaches your SMTP server, maybe your ISP can do that for you.

Contacting their ISP in Taiwan may be about as pointless as contacting the offending party directly.

I have been having a similar problem, but I dont know how to trace it. At first I thought there was a bug or hacker. It maybe somebody spoofing my email, which is most likely the problem. My question is how can I trace this individual who is doing this? I cant respond to the emails and they are all the same (there is very little change in them) am the sender and in the body it a single set of quotation marks. Any help would be great.
