Who else hosts with my reseller

I host with a reseller, They do not show any customer profiles within there website.

Is there anyway way i can find out who else hosts with them, without asking?

Im just concerned that im not the only one hosting with them, there service is good, but im getting worried as they have said certain features would be developed, but nothing has happened for the last 6 months.

Im wondering if its time to move on :( as if there are not many hosting with them, will they soon dissapear? Or if they have a large client base I may stick with them

I can't think of any easy way off the top of my head - you'd have to go whois fising and look for matching nameserver info.

However, if you feel you have cause to be concerned about the future of your hosting company then I'd recommend jumping ship now and saving yourself the frustration down the road. If they go down and you may lose access to your site and lose data etc. It can be a real nightmare when a host goes out of business.

Sounds like the writing's on the wall - time to move on. A couple hosts that get great reviews around here are www.pair.com and www.westhost.com.

Try the advanced search at ATW and search for your IP. It will list all domains hosted on your IP (as long as they are indexed by ATW).
then check the IPs above and below yours and doublecheck the domains found with a tracert to verify that they sit on the same network as yours.

Ive been told i have one IP address which shares all my domains.

However when i try to ping my domain name, an IP appears, but it also comes up with request timed out. However my site still works.

I also type in the IP in the URL and a holding page appears, saying this is temparily out of service.

Any ideas,

sounds like they're blocking pings at the router - some hosts do that to prevent dos attacks

the holding page you see when typing in the IP is fairly normal too. if you lease a dedicated server, you can replace that page with your own site if you want. if you have a dedicated IP, you might be able to do that yourself as well, but if not, don't worry about it. what counts is whether your sites work.

don't worry who else hosts with them. there could be dozens of other sites hosted by them. they could have several other servers and not every page of every site they host will be picked up by search engines, so even checking your IP on alltheweb.com won't show everyone they host.

very few hosts openly list their customers - hosting is a very competitive business and listing customers just opens the door for the cowboy hosts to spam the customers with "your host is crap, move to us" type messages.

replace the 1.2.3.4 with your supposed IP

see if any of your sites comes up and anything else listed is on the same server

if you still don't know your IP, use one of the 1000's of traceroutes out there such as on www.samspade.org/t

I tried that and it showed 123 webpages, including mine, and most probably all their other customer websites.

You can also use netcraft and see some. It also tells you who "really" hosts most sites.

A method I have used is to take advantage of the directory layout. Your domain may live in a directory, e.g. /usr/local/home/vhosts/yourdomain/httpdocs

All you need do is display the contents of the /usr/local/home/vhosts/ directory, which will show you the names of the domains hosted there.

A secure host should prevent your further access to any of the directories listed there, other than the directory that belongs to the domain you have logged in as, and may not even allow you to view that directory anyway.
