Researching SE placement

What do you use to find out how you rank with the various SE that doesn't have it's own tracking (IE Overture)? I know Web Positon Gold and other software programs are usally frowned upon by the engines.

If you don't want to risk it with the search engines by using software like WPG, TD, or AWR, you can always use those two things attached to your arms......hands. ;)
