Saving OE emails

need to format drive

What's the best way to save those emails quick & easy for safe keeping so that I can format me drive to get later transfer it back again. My system is getting wonky. Thanks

All your e-mails will be in a group of files with the .dbx extension. Just be sure you also save the address book (probably a .wab file) it will most probably NOT be in the same folder with your contacts.

By the way, there will probably be at least five and perhaps many more .dbx files to back up. In the future, you can tell OE to store your data files (except perhaps the address book) anywhere you want - just use the tools: options selection (I think - don't have it open right now).

Okay, I've backed it up already, so how do I get it all back into the new formated PC. Do i import it?

Just put all the .dbx folders in the folder where you want them (on the new machine). Then, open OE and tell it to use that folder as the message store. Should open right up...

edit...that should be .dbx files.

Don't forget - if you backed up to CD - you will have to change the properties on all of the files from "Read Only" or OE will crash every time you try to open it...
