Hi There,

MY FIRST POST :)

I want to know if anyone has used Captcha scripts to reduce auto submission of forms?

Is this the best preventitive measure around?

Welcome to WW jonnyd8!

I've used a few Capthca scripts to prevent auto-submissions from trashing guestbooks, forums, etc.

Don't know if it's the best preventive measure, but some of them work well. Others, not so great.

Either way, using one is better than nothing!

Almost all captcha scripts can be cracked. This is certainly true of some image captchas.

Essentially a captcha is not about security, it doesn't have to be 100% unbreakable to be effective. Image captchas have issues when it comes to accessibility, and the commonly used ones are likely to be either breakable, or very difficult for humans to read.

I recommend you look for a trivia-based captcha that allows you to set unique questions for your site. I have no idea how much it may cost though, you may even have to code your own because they don't seem to be all that common.
