With Vista OS being soon or later ready for main stream distro
and a new Beta release out since a few days I am wondering if anyone has tried to run the beta OS with a local PHP MySQL install?

At the current rate Longhorn, cough, I mean Vista is progressing I estimate someone will achieve this feat by the year 2015 ;)

Readings are depicting quite some good progress
And the dev state is over
They are fixing a few bugs :) and should launch it by
year end.
Further most Dell machines seem to be Vista ready.

There is on the MS Vista Beta [microsoft.com]site a test or info about machine readiness.

Actually I am weighting options, I need a new laptop, since I have been with Dell for a while I can purchase a monster machine for about 60 cents on the Dollar
Or wait 6 months for the Vista release plus 6 months for not being used as a guinea pig. So it looks like I am going to use my discount offer and still go with XP.

A lot of people are in that position. Personally it seems to me that (especially for a business related machine) XP is better until Vista has time to stew. On the other hand if you want the newest stuff and would rather pay by being a guinea pig go ahead, just make sure you have back ups ;)
