How to design nice looking forms & reports

Any resources/examples on how to make them look nice?

Hi all,
On-screen, and especially when they're printed out, I have difficulty in laying out a form so that it looks nice. It seems to be a bit of an art.
Whether it is a form to gather data, or a form/report that is presenting data from a DB.
I've previously (in vain) looked for any resources on this.
Anyone got ideas/resources.

I just use well formatted tables.

there's no trick to it at all.

No background, black text, clean headers.

Then just read from the database and populate your reports.

The key is really providing good filters on the front end to make the reports user friendly.

Yes, but there is an art to getting a nice layout to printed forms - you see some forms that just look good, you eye is able to zero-in on elements etc. and on the other hand, you se a large percentage of forms where the layout is cxxp and it's just 'information' dumped on the page.
I was just hoping someone maybe had spotted some resource on the web somewhere....
