What Do You Think Web Design Will Look Like In The Next 5 Years?

Do you think it will ever become a lost art?

Have you ever wondered what web design would be like in the next five years? Will the web slowly die(probably not) or will it just keep growing? Will there be a shortage of domain names(there already is)? What do you think would be a breakthrough technology for the web? What are you opinions, I would like to here.

Web design is already very competitive, and sometimes, I think there are just to many designers.

Very sad to say, but Flash Flash and Flash!

More and mote adverstisement - in Flash also :( - and more crappy loop sounds.

For e-commerce, every client will have the possibility to make custom made product (changing color, shape, etc.)

Most website will look good on screen and portable device and use of the domain name .mobi

Larger screen resolution -> design will shift to 3-columns layout or more. 2-columns layout will be dropped, I guess.

High competititon between SEO - Google, MSN, Yahoo and Eureka (from the European Community)

Really? Who told you that?

Very sad to say, but Flash Flash and Flash!

This is extremely unlikely given that Flash has been around for a few years and it is still not happening. Websites are all about presenting information to people quickly and effectively and Flash struggles to do that. Also, it can take many many hours to develop a Flash solution to present some information that can often be done just as effectively with a paragraph of text. That, and the learning curve, is why it is not proliferating.

... and more crappy loop sounds.

I really don't think so. People don't want this so it won't happen.

Probably.

I don't think that things will change radically during the next five years. Web design has evolved in the direction that people want to go and this will continue.

Flash looks good on a website but having your whole website in flash will not get you good results in search engines. And I'm still suprised how many people dont have flash installed on their computers. I dont think the web design matters as much as the content that you have on the website and if its easy to navigate. I mean look at myspace dot com. Design isnt that great but its one of the top websites in the world.

i think in the future, more people will e able to make simple web sites themself with so many programs coming out for that to make it easier and i think websites will become more interactive to the users maybe even some artifical intelligence type like from the movies:P and plans to take over the world wide web from humans :P
