got a problem anfd

i just upgraded to "xp" (what a mess) anyway now my WS_FTP lite now saves the file name from the remote site to my pc as a 8 bit name, i.e. index~1.htm.
my questions is it my xp settings some where and if so how do i fix it -or- is it the WS_FTP lite and how do i fix?

Having no such problems here, did you try reinstalling WS FTP? Be sure to make a backup copy of your WS_FTP.ini so you don't lose your logins and such.
