I have been asked a few times by thems who hold the reigns to compose an e-mail marketing strategy for their digest.
I don't really know what they want so thought I'd gauge opinion on this here - as I know very little and try to steer clear of e-mail marketing all together.
So a few questions:
What if any are the general theories behind it. I mean are there a series of unwritten rules beyond 'DON'T SPAM!'. Theoretically we have no problem producing the html email, obviously the reality of it is more complicated, but forget the nut's and bolts side for now... I'd love to hear about the methods and theories and experiences of others who do/have done it and what advice you'd give to the uninitiated.
What are the advantages of this? the disadvantages? are there any studies to corroborate theory? and are there any good sources?
I have searched here but didn't turn up any real gems...
Cheers, Limbo.
Webmasters tend to be very practical. My advice is to take a marketing theory, such as market orientation or the marketing concept, explain its antecedents - and then ask for comments i.e. give the structure and ask the posters for feedback.
