eBay in talks to fend off Google threat

eBay Inc has had talks with both Yahoo Inc and Microsoft Corp to determine whether one of them might be a suitable ally against common threats from Google Inc, the Wall Street Journal said on Friday.

Ebay is worried enough to look for an alliance with oen of two companies that are potential competitors themselves?

That sounds desperate given that Google is not even competing directly with then yet.

I think it looks like ebay is looking for a buyer.
