Anyone know anything about how effective alexa is? I ask b/c I've seen my traffic rank go from 100K to 1.5million in the past month, which might cause me to hit the panic button except that my hits, unique visitors, page views, and diversity of referring sites, not to mention inbound links and search rankings, are all higher than ever.

Any advice? The panic button is still available, but I'm not so sure.

I don't know what you mean by 'hitting the panic button' but to answer your question as to whether or not Alexa works -- well, let's just say that Amazon-owned Alexa is less than accurate. You'll find evidence, angst and info galore in this thread:

Why do you think Alexa ranking is important?

I'm somewhat new to the webmastering world, but do believe in tracking performance. I had thought that alexa was a good means to do so, but given the link above and my own experience ....

Alexa is a joke. I see now they even have Alexa spamming services, that will continually click on your website to run the rank up.
