Website names

Are there any cons to using a - in the name?

Does anyone have any advice on website names. I am looking into registering but wondered if it is recommeded not to use a '-' in the name.

Ie some-name.com

The name I would like has already been taken but can put a '-' in there.

Would there be an cons about doing this?

Would like affect search egine listings or anything like that?

It's fine to do that in moderation.

If you have like 10 dashes then that might be red flag though :)
