We are launching a new site next week that is going to be the "combination" of 5 existing sites. Each one (which all have good rankings and PageRank) will now 301 redirect to the new site as part of a corporate rebranding.

Marketing wants to have a small Flash movie play on each of the old sites (about the name change, etc) and then have the browser redirect to the new site.

Is this effective for passing PageRank? What is the best way to handle this from an SEO perspective?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice on this.

I'm not quite following. If a Flash movie plays on the old domain, how can a 301 redirect also be in place there? A 301 is a server-side redirect, not a browser-side action.
