"The US government is developing a massive computer system that can collect huge amounts of data and, by linking far-flung information from blogs and e-mail to government records and intelligence reports, search for patterns of terrorist activity."

From the Christian Science Monitor [news.yahoo.com].

Hi,

Well, I find nothing surprising in that at all. I just wonder why such a system is supposed not to be developed and launched yet(what appears doubtful as well). That's absolutely evident that it will hugely contribute to the intelligence in that direction. Someone will definitely not welcome that, but for the projects's creators it seems unavoidable due to constantly growing terrorist threats.

I wonder if it will obey robots.txt?

The Christian Science Monitor would be under the assumption that such systems do not already exist.

Either that, or they're just finding out about a new one that has had its information revealed publicly.

"unavoidable due to constantly growing terrorist threats"

That's exactly what they want us to think - and accept.
