Your Views on Partnership

Hello,

I need advice on this. I am currently a 17-year old web publisher so I have no experience at all in partnerships. I am currently developing a very big website (great idea by the way), so I asked for a "partnership request" in another forum. The person who replied turned out to be a great partner as he has already made the complete design and some articles for our website.

Now the question is, from that original thread in which I asked for a partner, I received yet another partnership proposal. What are your views in this, I think it would be benefitial to have a third partner to help us write and develop the website faster, but on the other hand it might get things out of control.

What is your advice on this? Should we just stay as two? Also any advice for this general subject is greatly appreciated as I am looking forward to make this work and make this idea profitable for us.

Thanks,
Joaquin

Personally, I've "partnered" with a number of folks over the years, a few times it's worked well, a few times not so well, and it definitely helps you not only build income but also to understand what parts of the business you like to do, and what parts you'd rather have somebody else do.

Thing is though with adding more people - you get a smaller % of the total take, but you might be better off in the long run. If you're confident that the new addition will bring skills that you or you're current partner doesn't have, that's one thing. If it's to simply shorten the timetable on a project where you don't know how much $$ there is involved, that's something else.

Lastly, be sure you check people's references & make sure they're legit. Good luck.
