I Need to Prevent Translation

Is there a way to prevent online translators from translating partial sections of my pages?

I have a bilingual site where most of the page is in english & some links & text in Japanese. This presents a problem when visitors come to my site via a url translator like google or babelfish as the kanji characters are now changed to numbers & odd looking screwey code. Is the a code or a way to prevent these translators from translating only the japanese sections? I also wonder, that if I IFrame the japanese sections sourced in another directory, would this prevent translation?

The only way to guarantee text will not be translated, scraped, etc is to turn it into an image. That will lock its appearance but will also prevent it from being indexed by the search engines. If you are targeting english speaking people than turning the japanese words into images may not be a bad thing.

If they are using Google's 'translation' then it is easy enough to test for the HTML referrer and redirect to the actual page.

2 issues with the above replies.
How do I make the japanese text into an image?
I use Macromedia fireworks & tried pasting the japanese text to make an image & it does not work?

For some reason, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, even my notepad, none of these allow foreign characters. They just change it to sqaures.

As for the second suggestion, blocking the translation altogether isn't what I want to do. I only want to block partial translation. I would want the english part translated, but not the japanese.

Take a screen shot of your japanese text while your browser is open on your page ..in order to get an image of it as a bitmap ( .bmp file )..then modify / crop etc the image that you got and paste the modded image back into your page where you had the original text ..

slightly long winded way ..but it will work ..

you can moddify the screenshot with fireworks and then incorporate from there into DW ..

OK :)

The analogue gap - use it while it's still legal :-)

It shouldn't be a problem if you use a Japanese OS machine. It could also be an issue with the correct font not being installed. (And if you're not using a Japanese OS machine, how are you entering the Japanese characters?)

Most graphics programs (Photoshop, etc.) should let you cut and paste text and save as a graphic. You'll need to have Japanese fonts installed on your computer for this to work.

The downside is that if you put all the Japanese content into a graphic instead of text, the Japanese won't be picked up by the search engines. Not sure if this is an issue for you or not.

Yes, I do want the text for SE indexing, particularly with japanese SE, so image may not be the way to go.
No, I do not have the fonts on my PC or have a japanese OS. I am only able to get the japanese text on my wordpress blogs via cut & paste. I use the translators to generate the text for me, then cut & paste it into wordpress. Also, the translation isnt even that accurate, but close enough as it is generally only links with 3 -6 words each, linked to pages in entirely japanese that were professionally translated or created in japanese.
