How do I do a search for information in Webmaster?

As you have guessed, we are new to this and just trying to setup our first e-commerce web site.

Thanks

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Larry Howard.

Are you asking how to search this site, these forums? There is a link at the top of the page called 'site search' that offers some information.

Went there and still don't get it. You are, unfortunately talking to a sales and marketing guy here.

I don't see that as unfortunate ;)

Do I type in what I am searching for someplace within this code?

No but I'll try to explain it a bit if I can. There is an option at the top of the screen called "control panel" that the "site "search" talks about modifying. Basically you are going to be using a search engine like Google, Yahoo, etc. to search over this forum or more specifically this site -- WebmasterWorld.

So, if you click that link to go to the "control panel" then follow the rest of the directions in the "site search [webmasterworld.com]" link which are to go to:

Control Panel ¦ Edit System Prefs ¦ Custom Code Insert (Top or Bottom)

... then copy and paste the associated code from the samples that user 'bill' has laid down you will now have a search box right on your page that you can use.

Hopefully this makes sense ;)

OK Coopster, just for that, here is one for you:

We are new at e-commerce. Just starting to setup the web site.

We have no products of our own. We are a reseller. Customers will research the products they want from manufacturers web sites and provide the product description for us to quote. Upon acceptance of our quote, our customer will purchase the product from us by referencing the quote number and using, let's say, PayPal, as the shopping cart.

Will this work as described and do you see any issues?

Thanks.

Sure, why wouldn't it? Issues? Such as what? It seems as though you are a bit apprehensive. I see you posted over in eCommerce [webmasterworld.com] and I believe you will find much better advice in that specialized forum. If I can think of anything to offer I will follow up in that thread.

Best wishes, Larry.
