FTP Problem

In the Dreamweaver 4 FTP function, I cannot connect to upload to my website. I have tried everything, from disabling Norton AntiVirus 2005, to disabling Windows XP firewall. I have emailed my hosting company, Hostright, numerous times, but they said they can connect no problem, and even used THIRTEEN FTP successfully!

I have even used an altenative ftp program, and still cannot connect. So what do you all think is causing this error? Should I completely unistall Norton AnitVirus or what?

Thanks,
Alan

you'll need to remove those sigs ..

And although DW 4 is a usefull tool to build sites with ..you would be much better off using something else to upload your sites with ..

I prefer Cuteftp Pro ..you may not need to go that far ..

uninstalling norton is always a good idea ;)..putting it back is a bad one ..there are many free AV's that do the job better and dont have issues such as norton does with most everything else that you want to use

Have you tried the ftp client built into Internet Explorer?
Simply enter ftp://domain.com in the address bar.
NOTES
1) You may need to enable ftp support
2) You may have to select passive mode
3) Ascii mode is not supported but this is only a problem when uploading things like perl scripts.
4) See the Options¦Advanced tab for 1) and 2)
5) XP may fail unless SP2 is installed.

I use DW4 along side cuteFTP ... perfectly good reliable combination.

I sounds like you have a connection problem, could be mapping or resolving.

You still haven't removed your signatures ... take heed!
