Does anyone know if most internet cafes in countries outside the United States let people plug their laptops directly into the network?

Most internet cafes that I go to have access to their wireless lan. Wired lan is alot rarer, but I have seen a couple "older" internet cafes that have lan plugs in each of their booths.

Is this your experience even in countries outside Europe? I'll be travelling to some far off destinations.

Hi, i have taken my laptop (not wireless) to cafes in such places as greece, spain, egypt, dominican republic, south africa and all they did was pull the modem cable from one of their PCs and plugged it into my laptop, i set up the internet connection and that was it. I am not to sure about the security issues on this though, because your laptop is then connected to their whole set-up and some of these cafes do not have the best protection in the world. I make sure my laptop is independantly protected and have never had any problems.
