I saw a website that has a 350,000 Alexa ranking and was wondering how many unique visitors the website would be getting a month. Just a rough estimate. Maybe share your experience regarding different websites Alexa Ranking that you may know about, and share how many unique monthly visitors, and Alexa rank. The website owner that has a Alexa Rank of 350,000, saids he is getting around 60,000 uniques per month. Is there some way of getting a general estimate of uniques, or a way of figuring it out, besides looking at his records? The niche his website is in has 350,000 searches per month and his website is listed on the first page of Google under the niche. But his website does not appear in Yahoo.com. I do know that a website with that of 350,000 ranking is is in top 1 % of all websites.

The Alexa ranking is not much use for any site ranking over 1000, in fact at levels like 350,000 it has no meaning whatsoever. You cannot infer anything about a site from it.

That isn't a high Alexa ranking, just installing the tool bar yourself would give you that and higher.

It all boils down to how many visitors hit the site that hve the Alexa toolbar installed.

I've always wondered what is a "good" number for an individual's niche website (as opposed to a website run by a corporation that has a huge advertising budget) and how my site is doing in the scheme of things. Is 10,000 uniques a month about average or is there really no way of telling? How old is your site that has 10K uniques?

It all boils down to how many visitors hit the site that have the Alexa toolbar installed.

Are Alexa rankings meaningless or useful in anyway? Doesn't seem so if I can increase my rank by simply installing the toolbar? I find the "Other sites that link to this site" stats so way off base.

My site was registered in early 2002 but was only first optimized and began to see any traffic in mid 03. In the last year, my traffic has been fairly constant at 10k visitors while my Alexa rank has gone from 1,000,000+ down to its current level.

Wow, a website that was at 1,000,000 Alexa rank down to 279,000 rank and has kept the same 10,000 unique visitors, any reason why that is so?

Well, this is my experience on one site and it puts it in context I think.

Site launched in April/May 2005. At the time I had the Alexa toolbar installed and was very actively adding content through a cms, so was on the site A LOT. It rapidly rose up the rankings at Alexa to about 67,000, maybe even a little higher. It was getting less than 2,000 unique visitors a month.

In early December I uninstalled the toolbar. This month the site will have well over 22,000 uniques and today is showing a 3 month average of 182,917 and a 1 week average of 881,024 - in other words its is plummeting down the rankings.

The traffic is growing steadily and consistently month on month, but if you looked at the Alexa data that is certainly not what it would be telling you.

I have around 10K visitors for 250K - 500K Alexa rating
