1. I do not get why the heck WW has so many categories. There is a saying that from a huge choise poeple do not choose anything :) (no offense, its just a joke).
2. The question which I want to discuss is the page raking in SERPs.
The thing is that I do not understand how the pages would be ranked in the following case:
There is a domain.com, which is an authority domain with a lots of inbound links from authority websites (.edu, .gov). The links that have inbound linkbacks would be:
www.domain.com
www.domain.com/authority-page1,
www.domain.com/authority-page2.
Now, the point here is that no one is interested in the pages www.domain.com/authority-page1 except a small dedicated scientific audience for example. So, in order to survive and earn from affiliates, the websites sets up pages with popular keywords:
www.domain.com/popular-keywords1 and
www.domain.com/popular-keywords2, etc.
The problem is that these pop pages would have no inbound links as they are made up only to increase trafic and run affiliate biz. However, the domain.com would have a high PR and many high quality links.
So, the question is, would these pop links
www.domain.com/popular-keywords1 etc. rank well in the SERPs? I guess they would have PR-1 compared to main domain.com, right? Or would these pop pages be treated like spam in G_algo and other SEs?
Why did I ask this question? The answer is that I do not understnt how would a space ship engine engineer or a organic electronic physicist would earn money from the website he sets up and maintains?
I mean, no one is interested in "space ship engine schemes", right (I mean at large)? But lots of people might be interested in "space program" and other high popularity keywords. So, how to combine the knowledge with a popularity? :)

I have an authority website, it is a total niche website, non of competitors on these keywords I use whatsoever.
But these keywords are not interesting to anyone. Its just too scientific and gets only a few searches on google per day.
How do I make my website popular, what I have to do in order to get lots of visitors?
