Is there anyway to detect someone using an I.P. scrambler to make perma bans... actually permament?

a friend of mines website is getting pestered by this #*$! with a scrambler, everytime he is ip baned, he just starts over.

is there any way to stop him?

Are you sure you mean IP scrambler and not proxy?

Either he uses different proxies or keeps on renewing his internet connection. Many ISP don't have static IP, so everytime you get release your IP you get a new IP.

You can ban his IP block if you really want to keep him out of your messageboard. But that means you will be banning everyone who is with the same ISP. Also get a list of popular proxy servers and ban every single one of them.

( ps ..if he is with AOL you will be banning all of the AOL ers if you ban the IP ..AOL tend to hide all their subscribers behind the one tree ;)

thanks for the welcome.

Now im not sure what he is using, pretty much if ignorance is bliss... im extremely "happy" about this subject :D

the only thing we could come up with, was to admin approve every new member, but the problem with that is it would ristrict board use and drive away the little guys.

@raymond: where could i find such a list?

im sorry to bug you all, but people like him are so annoying, i wish they could all just get a life...

put this line
"proxy servers list"

with and without the quotes ( vary the trawl ) into any search engine search box ..hit "go" ..

back will come enough to keep you reading til there are no turkey sandwiches left in your house ;)..

apologies for any resultant unhappiness ;)
