Traffic Theft

Anyone else offended by ads using your site title?

This may be the wrong forum for this question, but it seems to happen on the Pay Engines most often.

You are searching for your site or unique key phrase and the link description above yours offers people information about your site, but when you go there they have nothing about your site, can't find your site and aren't interested in being able to find you site without a fee if at all.

Now I realize this is a form of advertising 'Learn all about xyz at shopping.com', 'Find xyz on smartpages', etc. and all's fair when key words are being searched for, but I am somewhat offended when searching for my site title (after the trouble I go through to get the name out there) to find these guys trying to steal my traffic by offering information about my site when they don't have any such information.

I have tried writing a few and suggesting they list my site if they are going to claim they have it or information about it. Nothing comes of it.

Is there any smart way of solving this problem? Thanks.

The only way to stop it would be through legal action... You should probably talk to your lawyer and see what he/she suggests... Often times just a threatening letter will work..

I think it's rather funny sometimes. If I search for, say for example, info on ... diarrhea.
Off to the side I see: "Get Diarrehea at Amazon.com!"
