I've just been surfing around trying to find forums geared more toward marketing in general and came running back to WMW.

There's no place like home... there's no place like home...

Hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. I'm a advertiser promoting a nationally recognized publication - over 20 years of offline marketing experience - DM, TV, agencies, etc...

We are successfully promoting through affiliate programs, SEs, and advertising. Have a few very nice arrangements with large volume publishers (affiliates) and are looking to test with others.

I'd like to find out what experience other advertisers have had promoting with specific websites. Is this taboo? I don't see anyone talking about this with the exception of the SEs.

Maybe I'm on the wrong boards.... (I hope not - PLEAZZZZZ don't send me out into the barren forums landscape)

Where do I go for these discussions? Are they being held?

You can be specific as you like as long as you don't mention company names and/or urls. You will see a lot of posts with "blue widgets" etc and that is about as specific towards a product as you can get. This is to prevent the forums from turning into a self promotion board instead of a forum to learn and share knowledge ;)

I would read the posting guidlines located on the left of the message composition window if you need more details.

Thanks Contractor. I re-read the guidelines and don't see how the topic would conflict.

I'm not interested in promoting our product here, I'm interested in finding out if others have had success promoting their products/services with the companies I'm interested in doing business with.

I'd like to ask, "Has anybody run a campaign with Company XXX? Was is CPM, CPA, or hybrid? What kind of results did you get? Good CTR? How about conversions?"

I don't see anyone discussing this and am wondering if there is a reason.

If your talking about ad/ppc you would be better posting here which is the PPC Forum:
[webmasterworld.com...]

I check in on that forum (and others) frequently to keep up with the current trends, but it really doesn't address my questions.

I'm looking for discussions on ad campaign results run with specific publishers - not PPCs.

Thanks anyway. :)

You might find the i-advertising discussion list to be useful. I've been a lurker in digest mode for a couple of years and that type of topic comes up sometimes. You can sign up at i-advertising.com.

Hello mysterynme.

It’s ok to talk about this in general terms, no problem there. What we shy away from are discussions where specific domains are mentioned by either name or url. When you ask…

I'd like to find out what experience other advertisers have had promoting with specific websites

The answer is that this approach will not work here at Webmaster World.

If you’d like to rephrase your question, perhaps with a more general approach and still find the answers you are looking for then we would most certainly embrace a discussion such as that.

Thanks paynt - that guidance helps a lot. I don't want to overstep any boundaries, but I certainly want to take advantage of the wonderful resources these forums have to offer.

I'll give some thought as to how I can rephrase my questions...
