On my site, I have a page providing free advice relating to the services we sell...ie:

Blue widget advice 1
Blue widget advice 2
Green widget advice 1
Green widget advice 2...etc etc

Rather than have one page with all the subjects listed, I was thinking about dividing them up so I have www.mydomain.com/BlueWidgets/
www.mydomani.com/RedWidgets/...etc

This will then make it easier for my customers to find what they are looking for, rather than just have a page listing the info.

Ok, this is where I need the advice...if I move all the pages, will I lose all the PR I currently have for them, and if I do, is there any way of avoiding it?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Just make some redirects from the old pages to the news ones. That way search engines will lead to the old ones and get redirected, then after a few days your new ones will take effect. It's a round about way of avoiding it, but it should do the trick.
