I have to do an install of a speech recognition ( ie: you talk and it types ..not like opera's voice command .but a you talk and it inputs to notepad or similar ).The only one I can find anywhere in france that will allow input of French is Dragon naturally speaking ( we are woefully badly served in the software market in off the shelf products in bricks and mortar stores ) ..
anyway ..this install is for a blind association for whom I already installed freeware text to speech as they were being charged upto 3,000.oo dollars equivalent to have $50.oo programs installed by the local "experts"..

What I need to know is that although I hear very good things about Dragon and it's recognitive abilities in English ...( are they true though?..anyone used it for simple dictation or more complex stuff? ) ..

I really need to know how it works out in ideally French ( although there are only maybe 4 or five regular posters here from France ) maybe some of the Quebecois have used it? ..

Even some input from spanish speakers who have used it would be usefull as the association doesnt have even a few hundred dollars or euros to spare if it will be a waste of time ( after being so ripped off in the past )..and I can't find a "Try before you buy" in French on the net ..only have boxed versions in local shops ..

Any experiences welcome ..they are waiting for a little more autonomy ...they'd actually like to build their own site with a little help from time to time ..when I can ..being a visual artist I am acutely aware of what they are missing and so helping out the blind is a sort of "hobby horse" ..

Thanks in advance ..I couldnt actually find the right forum for this ..it isn't exactly community in the sense of WebmasterWorld ..and in foo it might get less eyeballs and less input ..

I cant say about anything about the program in another language but it had hell with my Texas "drawl".
it was so bad that i had to teach it several times then i gave up! - now this was a few years ago so it may have inproved since then?
and cudos on trying to help these people.
