search function on the site

any recommendations for implementing a reliable search function?

I'd rather have something tailored for the one particular website as opposed to using a Goolge search for instance

oh I forgot to add that I need it free (for a community website) I guess it's ok if I have to pay for it once I actually make any income from the site. That is if it's good enough to be worth something.

You get my point, I need something reliable to start with and something that's not gonna break my pocket once (and if) I have to pay for it if I actaully have a revenue
