I set up a server on my network so that I could test a new design before going live with it. The new design includes my AdSense code and to my suprise Google is able to feed targeted ads to the pages on my local server.
I can see my site by using my local network IP but it's on a wireless network where the base is connected to my cable modem. I know my outside IP is different so how is mediabot getting in to check my content?
Is there a way to get find how Google is able to do this? I have tried my outside IP and nothing loads, so I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?
The problem is that my Apache2 installation was acting strangely so I am working with the Apache server built into the Mac OS X install. And because it isn't set up the same as the Apache2 that I installed I am not sure where the log file is being stored. I will see what I can find there, but that's a good suggestion.
