The above URL may also have something for "tweaking" the drive but you may need to write a vbscript and autorun this somehow (but I do not have said script for you I'm afraid).
Otherwise, a registry hack will be required to enable this feature which is no good for this problem.
I think it's worth pointing out that that the first computer viruses (that I've heard of) afflicted the Commodore Amiga. On this computer, all floppy disks effectively had auto-run enabled. I think there is a lesson here.
