Greetings from Italy!

I've encountered a persistent challenge with our Facebook ad campaigns. Despite meticulously targeting ads within the specific zone of my business, I've observed an influx of leads originating outside of my specified geographical parameters. The configuration of the campaigns remains consistent with our previous settings. However, over recent months, the geographical filtering seems to have faltered, yielding contacts with no discernible connection to my target region. I operate out of Italy and was wondering if any professionals within the community might be aware of a possible explanation? Could there have been a shift in Facebook's ad policies or algorithms?

Hi Cacula, and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

We've recently seen different but similar problems with complaints about organic reach that started with their New Page Experience. This may or may not be related to your ad mismatches.

Personally, I do not know of anything other than personnel changes that might affect campaigns. If you ike, you might check the threads about the loss of organic reach to see if you spot any useful observations:

A new policy announcement about the new E.U. Digital Services Act (DSA) was issued recently so social media platforms may be scrambling to comply and possibly alter or limit resources for ads. It became operational 25 August, posted here: [webmasterworld.com...]

Hi and thank you for your response,

I appreciate the insights and links you've shared. Performance-wise, the audience is engaging better than usual, which is a positive. However, the issue of receiving leads from outside our geotargeted region remains a persistent concern.

Regarding the New Page Experience, I can't offer any specific insights into its impact on my current situation, as I haven't observed a direct correlation. What's more pressing is the newly operational E.U. Digital Services Act (DSA). I have every reason to believe that platforms like Facebook are making adjustments to comply with these regulations, which will undoubtedly limit our targeting capabilities further.

The crux of the matter is that I'm not confident I have sufficient systems in place to fully diagnose or remedy this problem, given the continuous changes in the regulatory landscape and platform algorithms.

These are indeed challenging times for those of us seeking precise ad targeting.
