It may just be a perception: I seem to have noticed a significant jump in scammers on Facebook in recent months.
At one stage FB said how many fake accounts it took down, and it was a ludicrously high number of 6.6 billion. [webmasterworld.com...]
The technology it spoke of doesn't seem to have got a grip, especially as some of the scammers have new accounts, and it's very obviously a scammer.
One way the scammers can get around this is by taking over an existingh account, thereby having access to all their friends.
So it goes on.

It's the apparent increase, and the obvious nature of scammers that automation does not seem to have gotten a grip on.
