A report over at The Verge says it's seen internal documents saying that Meta wants Facebook to start operating more like TikTok, which has grown rapidly and captured a much younger audience.

In an internal memo from late April obtained by The Verge, the Meta executive in charge of Facebook, Tom Alison, spelled out the plan: rather than prioritize posts from accounts people follow, Facebook’s main feed will, like TikTok, start heavily recommending posts regardless of where they come from. And years after Messenger and Facebook split up as separate apps, the two will be brought back together, mimicking TikTok’s messaging functionality.

There's one thing this might do, and that's to annoy its existing user base.
Personally, I dread seeing banal, time-wasting videos appearing in the FB timeline.

It also indicates that Messenger might be reintegrated. Well, once again, personally, i'd hate this as messenger was far too intrusive and I removed all traces of it, so i don';t want it back again.

Clearly, FB management is struggling to hold onto the younger audience, which is where the growth is right now. Will youngsters come back if they know their parents are on the platform?

I see a lot of unlikes to this strategy. They are not going to steal TikTok's fans.
