Facebook has a major problem with scammers operating openly. The company admitted removing massive volumes of fake accounts some while back: Facebook Took Down 1.3 Billion Fake Accounts Oct-Dec 2020 [webmasterworld.com]

We know why scammers operate there, and it seems odd that it's so obvious.
I have regularly reported fake accounts to FB, but it's getting tiresome to receive a response that the account doesn't break any of its community standards. Clearly, it's perpetuating the problem, and if it doesn't take action it'll implode, imho.

Just remember, these fake accounts help prop up their claims to the number of users they have. And in letting you report fake accounts is just them letting you feel good about yourself doing something proactive.

Ha! It gives me no satisfaction what-so-ever when Facebook can't even help itself. I indicated up to 25 scammers, all with the image of the stolen identity (of a celeb), and even using the same name. They also had links to websites with potentially dangerous content.
It was just too easy to spot.
After this morning's reports and the responses to the notifications, it's the last time I put any effort into helping.

I have more of an issue with Instagram scammers, selling their iPhones! I get maybe 10 or 15 in one day on my posts so I report and block all of them - all quiet for a week or more and then BAM another 10+ comments across three or four profiles.

>Instagram scammers

Pretty much the same sloppy attitude on Instagram.
I get it that there will always be some that get through, but when the users help Instagram and Facebook to identify scammers and it takes no notice, it's just going to lose genuine users that have had enough of being scammed. I'm sure the scammers will make great targets for the ads (not).
