First, sincere apologies if this is the wrong forum to ask this question. If it is, please tell me where I should repost it.

I do social media work for an organization and have been doing so for years without problems.

Anyway, for more than a year I've had to use this URL to get in and work on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/upgradeaccount/redirect/ It would bring me to a page where I could click on a link to the association page and get in to make posts.

Something happened since I did work in September. Now there is no link to get in to work on the association page.

What is new is that the login area is labeled a "gray account."

I have no idea how to fix it though I've tried to understand it to no avail. Any suggestions? Thank you kindly.

That could be related to a change that FB/Meta made to groups management just a few weeks ago - see more about that change here: [webmasterworld.com...]

I have no suggestion on how to deal with it though. Can you ask others in the management of the group?

Facebook has been separating the Page management so that users' posts would represent the Page, or personal. It's becoming a business management thing instead of an individual management thing.

You should be able to navigate directly to the page through the url (assuming you have it saved, or know the url, and then choose to interact as an individual or as the Page admin. Look for the option under the Page masthead and to the right. "interacting as".

I appreciate the replies.

We are going to find someone to fix the Gray Account as I don't understand the issue enough to do it myself. I simply create and post graphics and text for each association event.

HTH, I found another way to work on the page after clicking on the Pages link > Manage Page > Association Name.

I can't find anything that says "interacting as."

I don't even fully understand this. Are they saying they don't want just one page where we keep adding information about our events?

Also, I noticed that the URL I use says: facebook.com/upgradeaccount/redirect/

Is that "upgradeaccount" telling me something?

I do not know for certain, but it appears to be a directory where you could "upgrade account" but the account owners or the group admins would likely need to make those changes.

It is possible that the account was labeled as 'gray' because of a lack of interaction by the group owners.

I don't know what "group owners" means.

I have access, the only other person is the executive director of the association, though she doesn't do any actual work on the site and simply visits it like any other person. In other words, she doesn't login.

I am the only one who actually does work on the site (uploading graphics and text).

Two of us are logged in to the Facebook organization page. However, in trying to figure this out, I note that no one is listed under "Page Rolls." Neither of us have our own Facebook pages. Is the problem we're facing because no one has been assigned page rolls?

I hope I'm getting close to understand the problem of a "gray account."

That is what it sounds like. They don't want groups led by anonymous persons. Someone has to be listed as the owner and from there you can have an admin.

So another words, at least one of us has to have a personal FB page, right?

I closed my FB account a long time ago and never looked back. But, I guess if I'm going to work on the association's FB page, I have to open a new personal FB account to get rid of the gray page?.

If the owner of the page does not have an active account then I would be surprised if you can become the group Admin. Is there no information available on the FaceBook site to outline what they want?

I found someone to help me. My understanding is that a personal account needs to be "linked" to the business page.

1- They had me create an separate personal FB page (you may have one already)

2- make the personal page an Admin inthe page role section of the organization's web page.

It is no longer a gray account.
