A report at The Verge says that young adults are using Facebook less and less, and the company is seeking to tackle the declines.

Teenage users of the Facebook app in the US had declined by 13 percent since 2019 and were projected to drop 45 percent over the next two years, driving an overall decline in daily users in the company’s most lucrative ad market. Young adults between the ages of 20 and 30 were expected to decline by 4 percent during the same timeframe. Making matters worse, the younger a user was, the less on average they regularly engaged with the app. The message was clear: Facebook was losing traction with younger generations fast.

They really suck at making it fun. Maybe focus more on making it useful.

Younger people tend to want "the latest trendy thing" and at the moment it's tiktoc. As they mature they'll settle on something, but in the meantime It'll be something else at some point.

Even younger kids know when somebody is clamping down on their fun. :)

FB has a number of other worries at present ... loss of kids (who have no income to spend) ain't the biggest problem.

the last time i tried to sign up they wanted my email address, my mobile number and a real photograph of my face. and that's before i even posted a single thing.
and they also asked optional stuff like, can we go through your entire contacts book to see who you know.

i wonder how many people baulk and back out of registering, when confronted with all of that. no one likes handing over personal details these days.
