Hello all, newbie here. thank you for allowing me to join! i own a small construction company and looking into a facebook contest/giveaway for my page. i currently dont have a lot of likes/friends for that page. At the moment i am building a small local restaurant and want to drive some traffic to my facebook page by offering a contest/giveaway for some free dinners to the restaurant. Of course im not sure how to do it, i was thinking running the contest on my construction page and also my personal page? If anyone has some suggestions on a couple of different online contests or giveaways, id really appreciate it. thank you for your help!

Hi platinumaa and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

I have not personally run any contest/giveaway promotions but to get a jump on ideas, it can always help to see what kinds of promos are out there already and how they are being featured and found by others. Take a look at the promos and see which are gaining useful interaction. You don't need to copy anything, but it should give you insight and can lead to learning, especially from the big brands.

i didnt think of searching for the keyword "promotion". im not familiar how to do either, but will start with researching that keyword. at this point im not interested in getting work, just increasing the awareness around my hometown of my company. ive been around for about 15+ years but never marketed, i figure online is the best way if im gonna start now.

and other ideas would be helpful, than you!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld platinuma.

This will be a long term and ongoing project.

If it's a Facebook Page, and not a Group, Facebook pages don't get a lot of traction these days. When Pages were first introduced Facebook realised it was taking away the opportunities for earning advertising $$.

You should, however, have a Facebook Page as a reference.

Start to build a schedule of items to promote to the page over time. You do you have to stick at it.

Once you've got that under way, if you're not already, start joining local Groups in the area. Some groups allow you to join as a Page, but many have stopped that as it's a bit spammy-looking.
You need to start interacting in those groups.
Some groups allow limited promotion and marketing so there may be opportunities to drive traffic to your Page and your competitions.

Depending on where you're located, some regions in the world have strict rules about competitions so it's worth checking you're not breaking any local laws.
