Hello all. I have local PC Repair service her pin New York and would like to try out an Ad for a week or so. When I lick on the PROMOTE button I am seeing only 2 options "Radius and Age" to choose from.

Is that all there is to it or are there other ways to set the ad to reach a targeted audience please? Thanks.

Hi mikehende and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

I apologize for the edit of your screenshot but our Charter asks that we not post account specific information. In general, advertising options may be limited until you have set up an ad account. The try-out options are not going to offer every choice that is available for full accounts.

No worries, for future purposes you mean I should not post screenshots?

Also, are you saying I should first create an ad account for this then run the ad? I was simply following what the PROMOTE button was telling me to do,

Welcome!

Yes, no screenshots which might be deemed self-promotion (site details).

FB has several layers of ad offerings from free, to a bit of cash, to a lot of cash.

Find your comfort spot!

If you look at the Facebook ads pages: [facebook.com...] it lists 3 different types of ways to target your ads: Core Audiences, Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences which would bring in new people with similar interest to your own customers. On that page I see age, interests, geography, and more. To do that you need to know your best customers' interests. You can test, but it is not free. If you just click a Promote button for a free trial, that is only an example of what is available.

Thanks a million! I will try out Core Audiences first. If any tips for trying that Ad please let me know? Blessings all.

Hey guys, looking into the Audiences features I am seeing an option not to reach the people in my friends list. From what I am understanding I will need to first create a post on my business page then "boost" that post. So can anyone tell me if there is a way for the post on my business page to not be seen by anyone on my friends list please?

I am not sure why you would want a Boosted post not to be seen by folks on your friends list though they may or may not see your boosted post. FB may want to use the reach of your Boosted post to create a list of folks who are on your friends list just for that purpose - so they can remove or de-list them for their "option" not to reach the people in your friends list. A Business page is not necessarily or automatically seen by all your 'friends list' people.

I see. A lot of people on my friends list are not actually friends, just people who had sent me friend requests when I had first signed up and not wanting to be rude had stupidly accepted. Then after a while I had gotten fed-up of all the nonsense people were posting so I had stopped responding to everyone.

So now I just wish to create some ads and not have to deal with anyone on the friends list is all.

I have been looking at different tutorials and at this point still not sure if I need to create a post on the business page or can simply create an ad in Business Manager?

If you have created a Business Page you should use that page to tell people about your business so that whoever comes to that page knows where you are, what you do maybe can see pictures of examples. FB business pages can be found in Google search and you want people to have all the information they need to be able to and to want to do business with you. Treat the Business page as you would a poster for your business.

If you accepted a bunch of friends you should take the time to weed through them at least to try to determine whether they are real people or not. If you have nothing in common and don't share interests with them you have no obligation to keep people on your friends list. Whoever they are, your association with them does reflect on your account and what you see in your feed. Your friends list is separate from your Business page unless you invite them all which does not sound productive.

Create your page as if it were your mini website and try to answer the kinds of questions that your customers might have. DO NOT start advertising to draw people to an empty business page, that is a waste of money. The FB ads are sort of like a closed garden, they want send people to your business page, not your business. So that is up to you to have it ready for traffic before you start.

Got it, I will first optimize the page before creating the ad for it, thank you,

Next, should I place a link to my pc repair website from the page and/or in the ad?

Aside ... info only... back in 2010 or so nearly all the tech giants scaled back on IT, tech, parts, repairs. Merely a remark that these efforts, unless vetted by the techs, might not fair as well as they did from 1999 to 2009...

Have you visited any Business Pages? Look around, see what the high budget pages are doing and see what good and bad ideas they have. We try to steer folks in the right direction, but details should be your own. You don't want a cookie cutter page.

You mean on FB? No, I will do so, thanks. I figure I can try to boost a post for one week as it's targeted to see what happens, should be a better option than Craigslist.

Hey Mike, before clicking on "boost" button. I would suggest you to read a little about Facebook Ads online. You can find a lot of great content on the internet relevant to Facebook Ads. I know it might look like a daunting task but believe me you can do so much better with whatever amount you are willing to put on, if you'd just read about it a little. Also, totally agreed with not2easy on the fact that you need to look at other Business Pages of your industry and see what they are doing. I feel if you learn a thing or two before starting on ads, you just MIGHT be able to get the results you are looking for.
