Facebook planning to launch GlobalCoin

[bbc.co.uk...]

Z has met with a bunch of bigwigs in US and UK to discuss the potential of this ...

Facebook " looks for cheaper and faster ways for people without a bank account to send and receive money."

nice way of putting it - this is really about enabling fraud and criminal activity, in my mind anyway (or at least it will be used by fraudsters and criminals)

It looks to be as though FB wants to be in every single business, and gather every bit of data it can.

This is their way into banking.

Crypto currencies are not as good at anonymity as people tend to think, and one run by FB is going to have data gathering enaled somehow.

Fascinating.
I wonder how this sits with the huge number of bad accounts FB reported.

I thought I had read this some time ago - thanks for that reference link, engine. This is still a long way from launching.

Absolutely, Facebook can't protect our privacy, how can they give the guarantee for our money.
It's good joke

Last few days FB has been grilled by Congress over Libra ... still waiting for those to conclude.
