Hey,

I got two facebook pages with 40k likes.
The webshops they belong to are no longer active.

I was wondering if there's any way to still make money with the facebook pages.

I don't have a lot of experience with commercial facebook pages, so all tips are helpful.

No.

Facebook won't give you relevance for free; you need to pay to reach your own fans.

You could make a big effort and re-gain the attention of your followers BUT in the long term is way more productive just make that kind of efforts in/with/for your own website.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com] Barry80

The way that FB works it's unlikely that many will notice. FB has changed it so that pages are all about being advertised. It's really hard work with pages that aren't advertising.

You should be careful so that you don't force FB to act on Pages in the same way they did with communities. Facebook does not permit communities to be sold.

As a point to note, I remove "likes" from Pages that have been somehow re-purposed, or don't match what it was originally set up for.

Likes do not equal engagement. Facebook's value is in how engaged users are with a page. The more engagement the more it'll show up in more people's timelines. Failure at that point results in less exposure.

@macario ... Welcome to Webmasterworld!

I was reading somewhere (passing) that some at FB are regretting "likes" as an indicator ... Don't recall where, or in what context. I personally never paid much attention to likes. No context. Liking the person, the content, or the ?

It depends whether the 'likes' are relevant and engaged with your content. I have seen pages that have 300 likes with more engagement than pages with 20k likes.
