Not for the first time, the are calls for Mark Zuckerberg to step down as Chairman of Facebook, enabling a new chairman to take the reins.

“A company with Facebook’s massive reach and influence requires robust oversight and that can only be achieved through an independent chair who is empowered to provide critical checks on company leadership,” said one of these investors, Scott Stringer, the New York City comptroller, according to Business Insider.

Some suggest he's made a great success of building Facebook and is now in a position to let go and to even step away from the company.

I think he should. He has enough money for his family for several generations. There is no longer the fun or excitement to create new things at Facebook. If I was him, I'll leave, take a break, then may be something new , or finance new business and initiatives. I perfectly imagine him building a new company , specialized in privacy protection for example. Seriously, you create the problem, you sell the solution.

Zuck's shares, etc are pretty much judgement proof. Complain all they like, he has the power. No change will happen, unless the accumulating scandals reach a level of gumbermint (sic) oversight, in which case his shares make him the most responsible. :) or :( take your pick.

I don't think the investors are suggesting he give up being CEO, just that someone else becomes Chairman.
