Facebook totally wasted an hour of my time, now I'm ticked

My Town posted a Boil Water Advisory on my website this morning, apparently there was a contamination at the local water plant and the people that drink the town's water needed to be warned, urgently.

I scrolled through my News Feed, and every time someone commented or asked about the contamination I replied with a few details and gave them a link to the thread on my site.

I noticed that I didn't have any Likes or Replies, which is kinda unusual. So I looked, and discovered that every one of my replies have been deleted. So not only did they waste my time, they're denying me the ability to help local people during a minor crisis.

Further, I know a week or so ago I sent about 100 "invites" to new Friends to like my business page (through Messenger), but my Likes didn't increase at all. These were people that sent me a Friend Request, and most likely know me through my business, so the thought that not one of them would like the business page is unfathomable... which makes me think they didn't even get the invitation.

So thanks for being a complete waste of time, Facebook >:-(

fb is tweaking all kinds of "fake news" and ugc that might fall into that category. As for bulk notifications of "friends" fb also has algos in place that look at that with a jaundiced eye. Time your message releases at least one minute apart (preferably 5!) and you won't be seen as a scammer.

Well, there's 2 things about that:

1. The posts I made today were all unique replies, along with a pasted link to the thread. So they were all worded differently, and several minutes apart.

Several hours later I replied to the Town's page, made another unique comment, and posted the link. It was removed within minutes.

So it wasn't a matter of timing or the content not being unique, I was specifically being targeted.

2. As for the invites to like my page, I was using the "Invite Friends" link and sending 50 at a time through Messenger... which is exactly what they allow.

I can't help but feel personally targeted. I've reported countless fake accounts, viruses, and scams; FB used to reply to each one after a few weeks. The last time they removed one was May 18, and the last time they replied was May 30, but I've reported at least 17 accounts this month and those accounts are still active (I know because they sent me a friend request, and they're still in my list as pending).

I get the feeling that they want the fake accounts (possibly to falsely inflate their traffic numbers), and I'm an unwelcome squeaky wheel.

Without revealing CONTENT, was any of the invites linked to either politics or "fake news"? fb is racing to get a handle on both, a pro-active attempt to avoid gubermint (sic) regulations.

I can't count the number of times I've said that.

Nope, not at all. The thread began with an announcement from the Town Manager, which he had repeated on the Town's FB page. And the invites just used the default verbiage from FB.

I can't count the number of times I've said that.

Me too, but I'm done now. I should have walked when they stole $2,000 from me, but some suckers need to be taught the same lesson twice...
