Facebook is switching its systems away from phrased-based machine translations to neural networks. It says it now accounts for over 2,000 translation directions and 4.5 billion translations each day. The company claims this provides a more accurate and fluent translation.

I don't know if you've noticed the changes. Basic translations do seem to be similar, but more complex translations seem to have improved.

Read more about the change.

I can now say "me too" in a dozen languages.

Part of what I was formerly seeing as the problem, was the FB translator not recognizing *my* language. It often would ask if I wanted to translate when the material was already in my language.
