We all know that numbers can be skewed a little for all kinds of reasons, however, it's worth looking at the survey based on research into Facebook. If you use FB for marketing you ought to read this.

That'll be due to age restrictions. IIRC you are (or at least needed to be) 18 to have a painless sign-up and restriction free viewing. It'd go some way in explaining the specific anomaly.

If you look at the shape of the bar graph in the linked article (the last pair of graphs, Male and Female), you can see how much of it levels out if you simply shave the top off the "18" bars and apply it to the top of the 16s and 17s.
