I'm not entirely surprised that Facebook has blocked the idea from a UK insurer of profiling younger users over their car insurance.

This has been one of the concerns many people had from the beginning over profiling.

"Protecting the privacy of the people on Facebook is of utmost importance to us. We have clear guidelines that prevent information being obtained from Facebook from being used to make decisions about eligibility," said a Facebook spokesman. yes this was all over talk radio shows yesterday.
i found it amusing that everyone was banging on about how wrong and wicked it was to do such a thing.

and yet those same people probably happily give all their data away, like everything they do including where they actually are located, to various apps on their phone all the time, including to facebook itself.

Yes, that's quite correct, people just give away their personal information without thought. It's abuse of that data by unknown parties that most concerns me, not true friends.

I'm sure profiling is already going on and Facebook is a wealth of information.
