It appears Facebook may be working on post deletion. I'm not sure how that's going to be useful, except for event-based information.

It could be useful for posting about just about anything that is valid for a limited time.
It would be an improvement if the time frame for automatic deletion could be set longer than a week, though.

it would definitely work for creating giveaways that need a code for a limited period of time, or contests..
