That's quite a milestone. Is it also a marketing person's dream?

This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.

i wonder what the ownership figures are for computers these days.

if they are claiming that 1 billion people are active users (which is 1 in 7 of the world's population), that would mean that 1 in 7 people own a computer or a phone.

i find even that figure a bit hard to believe (especially when you consider that a large chunk of the population will be either too young or too old).

@Londrum

The world is a lot more sophisticated than you think.

Of course there is a high percentage in Europe and the USA with computers and phones etc.

And millions more in China and India and Africa are getting mobile phones. And one of the first things they will do is join Facebook.

That's why Asian and Russian sites feature very high in Alexa traffic ratings.

But of course a lot of the users will be under 13's and duplicates and fakes etc etc.

Just saw an article which said that there were 6 billion mobile phone accounts (sim cards) in the world. Nearly one for every person in the world.

Thats wrong logic...considering there are many who use office resource to login social networking sites.

Also in many countries; common desktop and laptops are used by family members.

I think Google is facing a problem here.
Their latest results show a drop in ad revenue (their main income).
I think this is due to more people using ipads and phones to access the internet.
And its Facebook that people are looking at on their mobile devices.
Add to that the fact that Google Adwords are just too dear for the ROI.
So I see continued growth in number for Facebook.

for your ROI maybe..but for the vast majority who use them, the ROI of adwords is fine..

Curious..you are very pro facebook..but have you actually sold anything via advertising on facebook ? and what was the ROI..?
