The government won't need to spy on us because we're busying spying on ourselves and giving them the data for free and even providing a search service to boot. Bad enough people are already tagging images to identify people in them, even if we don't want to be identified in them, but now with facial recognition built-in they can find you regardless.
Example of wild things coming out of left field; someone posted a newspaper clipping of my KINDERGARTEN class photo which was published about 1966 and tagged me in it on Facebook.
Almost fell off my chair.
I'll bet George Orwell never saw this coming that we'd do it to ourselves instead of waiting for an oppressive government to do it to us!
Facebook Inc. (FB), owner of the world’s largest social-networking website, acquired Face.com, adding technology that enables facial recognition in photos.
Terms weren’t disclosed. Face.com helps users tag photos and find images online by distinguishing facial features on social networks and photo-sharing sites. Menlo Park, California- based Facebook already uses some of Face.com’s applications.
