Question, what is the connection between facebook and your website, is this still true, if you want to buy a widget, you would go to google and put in the proper keywords to purchase that widget, a site would come up and you would click on it and buy that widget/

If you want to leverage FB to help sales on your website, you need to set up Open Graph tags and Like buttons on your website pages. These website pages will show up on FB just like other FB Pages that are liked. When your FB friends see your pages, they might notice what you like and they may visit your website.

Another connection is that Google takes note of social signals, e.g. citations and links on various social media. If your website has a FB presence and activity, the cross-references will benefit the website in some way, e.g. a ranking boost.

To answer your question, if all else is equal, a website with an active FB presence and tagged with OG will rank better than a website without any FB presence. Of course, "better" is relative, and does not mean first page listings. :)
