What are the best mechanism(s) for running a competition on a FB page?

We want to run a competition on our Facebook page, in order to generate interest in our company.

Do you have any tips on what are the best mechanism(s) for doing this?

My boss has suggested that we simply offer one of our products as a prize... and have a closing date.

But how should we get users to enter?
- Just by "Liking" us?
- By emailing/messaging us?

Either way, is there a simple mechanism on FB for emailing(messaging?) everyone who has 'Liked' us? Or emailing/messaging everyone who has emailed us about a particular subject?

For legal reasons there would (presumably) need to be an element of SKILL involved... if so, could that be "suggest and improvement on our site"? (Or would that make us too vulnerable?!) Or should it be answer some question about the product itself?

At the moment I'm planning a small FB competition. The plan is to encourage people to visit our websitesite to help them win the competition on FB.

To enter the competition they need to make something (to do with the website) and send us a picture of it via email. Receipt of the picture will get them an entry into the competition.

Whta prize could we give was a qustion I asked. I think it's going to be an Amazon voucher because that will cover people from a variety of countries, but not all.

In your competition, do they need to 'Like' your page?

And if so, is there any way of contacting (just) everyone who has Liked you?

Also when you say by email do you mean Facebook's email or real (POP3/SMTP etc)? If FB's email is there a simple way of emailing ALL of the particants back?

The competition is not running yet - it soon will be.

No, they don't need to Like any page, they need to create something and send a picture of it to webmaster@...... by any email method they want. As long as I receive their email with a picture then they will be entered into the competition.

I'll be interested to know if anyone can come up with a solution to extracting a list of all FB likes.

But if you just want to select a random winner from one of those who have liked your page then simply check how many likes you have within a date range (easy on FB) and then select a random number. Match that random number to your list of likes and you have a winner.

You can notify the winner by leaving a message on their FB page.

Why do you want to email all the FB 'like' people? Simply say in the competition that the winner will announced on your FB page on a specific date - that will invcrease the number of FB views.
